From Booklist

Exuberant little tykes celebrate springtime in this entry into Cocca-Leffler’s series about seasons. In succinct phrases that rhyme and bouncy illustrations that match the text, three young kids and their spotted dog enjoy the spring: “Singing birds, / budding trees, / frogs and tulips, / honeybees.” They begin by helping to plant a garden: “Digging, tilling, / seeds to sow. / Planting carrots in a row.” Then they picnic, play soccer, swing, visit a farm, build a tree house, and head to the swimming pool on the last day of school. Each of the spreads depicts an association with the spring season, and they are filled with fun details for the youngest readers. For instance, the dog getting his head lodged in a planter, a teddy bear left out in the pouring rain, a trail of ants invading their tree house picnic, and so forth. Good for home sharing as well as at nursery schools. Preschool-Kindergarten. --Julie Cummins

This is part of a series. The author has written one for each season. Winter: Let it Snow, Spring: Let it Rain, Summer: Let it Shine, and Autumn: Let it Fall. The books follow the same family throughout and showcase their seasonal activities through lyrical rhyme. There are other such seasonal book series on the market, but this is my favorite. I feel it captures each season the best - from start to finish, and has the best illustrations. The rhyming makes this book fun to read and approachable for all age groups.I first bought the Let It Fall book when my daughter was 1. I then added the other seasons. She's three and a half now and still enjoys reading them.I have to disagree with the reviewers who say this book or any of the series lacks substance. What I like so much about the books is the ability to draw conversation from what you see on the pages. There are so many great comprehension questions to ask, even to a 1 year old. The pictures are so rich, with so much going on, each time we read them there is something new to point out. That is what makes these books so great to read again and again. I never tire of them. This book is the quintessential book for spring. I love that none of the books mention holidays specifically. That makes them relatable to so many different religious or cultural groups here in America. Moreover the four books make a great gift pack for multiple age groups.

My children (ages 6 and 4) love the Maryann Cocca-Leffler "Let It..." series. We have all four seasons and they can recite them by heart. Let It Rain follows the same rhyming and pattern as the others in the series. You also have the same characters - including the dog - which my children like pointing out on each page. Now that my six year old reads on her own she will start with the Winter book and proceed through the whole series. These are quick reads and lots of fun.

This series is amazing. I love that these books cover the seasons minus the holidays. There are a million holiday books out there so I like that these focus on other things. There's so much for kids to discover in these books about nature, family, and seasonal activities. I love that each book highlights the positive and negative sides to each season too. My child and I love them.

We read a lot of books with our little one, but this one has quickly become one of her favorites! This "Ode to Spring" reads like a poem, and amazingly she is repeating all the words that were new to her within a few times of listening to us. We haven't seen this to the same degree with our other books. She is so enthusiastic about the rhymes, and the pictures. I love that the series celebrates the seasons (including their "ups and downs"), and features the same cute family.

Just like Let It Fall and Let It Snow already are, Let It Rain is becoming a household favorite! My 4-year-old can quote the first two word-for-word and is quickly learning Let It Rain.Maryann Cocca-Leffler knows exactly what will appeal to children and how to word her books so that, even reading them over and over nightly, they never get old.Maryann's books are the only books I don't tire of!We are looking forward to Let It Shine (which we've pre-ordered)!!!

My kids like it and they learn a lot about rain, and spring too.

We have the complete set of this series of books about seasons. We love them all. Easy read with fabulous illustrations that really exemplify each season.

This is a cute book. The story is quite short but the illustrations are nice. I purchased this book for my 3 year old sons show and tell as he needed to bring in a book about rain.
