I bought this book to help prepare for a professional exam which includes drapery and wallcovering calculations. I doubt it will be of any use to me after that.If the book explained how to put together a preliminary budget based on square footage, it would be useful. Instead, it explains how to calculate yardage requirements for various softgood interior finishes like carpet and drapery. These aren't really estimates--they are concrete calculations. And they require substantial knowledge of the job conditions--precise window measurements and design such as drapery fullness and pleat type.In other words, this book might be helpful if you were an interior decorator working on a retail basis and need to know how much yardage to buy and send to the workshop to fabricate a client's draperies.It is not helpful if you are a project manager or interior designer needing to put together a preliminary budget for a client based on an initial interview and square footage. It doesn't include estimating for drywall, ceilings, light fixtures, etc.I've also noticed some typos in the math calculations.Overall, I think the title is misleading.

Surprisingly this book was not required for either my interior design undergrad or masters courses, but it should have been. I read it cover to cover! The out-of-date image belies the excellent quality of the information. I hope I can get it on my kindle so I can carry the info with me for design meetings to calculate quickly yardages for price estimates.The book provides a great collection of forms for easily figuring yardages and prices! It offers concrete "decorating" info that is often neglected in big design schools, like figuring drapery fullness. This is more than a book; it is a design tool!

This is first and foremost a primer and introduction to the art of calculating carpet, wallpaper, upholstery and paint estimation.

This is a traditional textbook for interior design curriculum, but is also helpful as a reference in the profession. It does have lots of examples, numbers (which are out of date because of inflation) and some graphics. I would say it is a great book for any beginner or professional.

This is a must for any Interior Designer or Interior Design student. The images are a little outdated but the contents of this book are great.

It's a very good book. This book met my expectations.

I've written reviews for several books on Amazon, and not until I reviewed this book were any of my reviews ever rejected. This is my second attempt to review this book.Contrary to the review by Gerard Meester (who from his dearth profile appears may have an affiliation with one or more of the authors), this is far from "the best book" available to practitioners in fraud detection and prevention using Big Data. The best book in this area is hands down Financial Forensics Body of Knowledge (Wiley Finance), which covers hundreds of analytical techniques for fraud detection in a manner understandable to most people with a modicum of educationTo its credit, the book does cover some rather esoteric statistical fraud detection methods not covered in other texts, but it provides only brief coverage of these advanced statistical techniques, apparently for those already learned in the data sciences.To its detriment, the book does not provide a clear presentation of the application of the advanced formulae in a manner that is understandable to the uninitiated. It would be very nice to see the authors provide this material in a manner that is more detailed so that the reader can work through the methods without the need to resort to the plethora of references at the end of each chapter in order to gain an understanding of the material.

Great book!

This book summarizes some standard statistical techniques (clustering, regression, SVMs, ensemble methods etc) and tries to tie them back to fraud analytics. However I feel that it didn't really succeed. People who are already familiar with the statistical techniques will find the insights into fraud analytics somewhat lacking. Those who don't know the statistical techniques would be better off to study them elsewhere using standard machine learning or statistical learning textbooks. There are a great many books that explain the exact same techniques in a superior manner. Don't think there are lots of good datasets in the book either, nearly all the data is just made up. Nor is there much in the way of hands on tutorials. Sadly this is quite a common problem, people try to write a book about "statistics" for X. But end up just summarizing a lot of statistical techniques in a manner inferior to other books, and ultimately have relatively little to say about X. I recommend that readers just bypass this book, maybe there is a good book on fraud analytics that assumes the reader already knows statistics and can deliver insights more quickly, but I haven't found it yet. This book is 95% summarizing standard stats techniques and a few obvious points about fraud analytics.

After 36 years of working at Boeing, a modern airplane company, it was an honor to be granted unrestricted access to the photographs and documents of a legendary, but now sadly defunct, air frame purveyor. My research was done by reviewing thousands of pages of source documents including letters, financial ledgers, plant weekly newspapers, and the logs of daily events. The discovery of the NA-73 (P-51 prototype) civil registration form dated October 1940 was especially significant. The image of the document is found in Appendix G. I was also able to track down and interact with some of the descendants (the nephew of the copilot killed in the crash of NA-98X on 4/24/44) and the grandson of one of the major protagonists. They graciously shared family history with me. It was only after review of the source documents that previous books on the topic were reviewed and they added some additional insights. It is expected that Warbird Factory will help future historians better understand the miracle that was North American Aviation during World War II.

Top shelf book on North American aircraft production during WWII. I highly recommend this book to anyone who have wondered how these aircraft were put together on a production line. Author John Fredrickson does a masterful job in weaving the lives of Dutch Kindelberger and Lee Atwood of NAA to the development and manufacturing of the iconic P-51 Mustang and the B-25 Mitchell. Plus stellar photographs and illustrations of that period. A few other aircraft are covered in this hardcover book, but it mostly deals in making of Mustang and Mitchell aircraft. I give this aviation history book a big thumbs up!

The writing is okay, and the analysis doesn't go too far into depth, but the strengths of this book are that it goes into an area that doesn't see too much content - the design and industrial elements of WWII - and the great pictures. People who would like to learn more about aviation giants like Dutch Kindelberger and have particular interest in the B-25 and P-51 will find this book interesting. I appreciated that it went into depth on the industrial efforts to build Allied warplanes in WWII and had some interesting tidbits like the cheap cost of Mustang production, but I also felt this book could be so much more.

As a North American Aviation fanboy this book showed quite a few of the assembly lines, and the environment around North American during the war years. I especially enjoyed some of the photographs showing the diversity of the workforce that the war forced on the company. The posters, ads and other material that was included has some historical interest. Really enjoyed browsing through this book while reading Jeffrey Ethell's excellent book on the P-38 Lightning.

Interesting, well done book. My only quibble is that I would have like more photos of the production line.Both of my parents worked for North American Aviation at times so I have a sort of family interest. I was inside of a part of one of the buildings along Imperial Highway (used for B25s and later P51s) when Carrol Shelby was making the first Mustang GTs.

This is mostly a history of NAA with emphasis on the WWII period. Nicely printed on good quality paper. The photos are reproduced very well. I have not seen most of them before. Apparently the NAA photo archives survived the company's various changes of ownership and now safely reside with Boeing's archives.

Wonderful book, lavishly illustrated and with more detail than you might expect.However, that makes the photo caption on page 188 even more bizarre. It shows Eisenhower standing before an aircraft. The caption reads "Eisenhower chats with an officer in front of a North American combat plane - likely an A-36 Apache, which was a variant of the P-51 Mustang."The plane is very obviously a Supermarine Spitfire.Beyond that little hiccup, this is a superb book, including stories I had never read before, like the custom B-25 built for Eisenhower.

North American Aviation built more planes than anyone else during World War II, but it wasn't easy as this book points out. Where would be have been if "Dutch" Kindleberger never existed!

This is a gift for my dad. He is a huge World War II back. He really enjoyed this book. He said it was different from most of the other ones he has read especially since it focused on the planes instead of the ground forces.

I got my kids two strategy guides when Pokemon Gold & Silver came out, this one and the "official" Nintendo one. Of the two, this one has gotten MUCH more use. My daughters have marked lots of areas with PostIt flags, the pages are dog-eared, the back is getting ripped, you know they use it!I realize the previous reviewers noted some minor problems with this guide, but all in all they're just that, minor. No, this guide does not have a built-in Pokedex, they published it before they had the info put together for the Pokedex, and I'm fine with that (see my review of the new Pokedex here on Amazon, it's well worth having too!). And yes, there are some typos, but that's not a big deal.There is a lot to love about this guide. It has comparison charts for the various types of Pokemon, so you know which type to use when battling. There are pages and pages on everything from TMs to HMs, Berries to Apricorns, the various Pokeball types to the new Mystery Gift items. There's an in-depth section on breeding Pokemon, as well as the newest ways to evolve them (stones versus the happiness factor). There's a great quick and dirty path through the game, which you can check to make sure you didn't miss anything. And best of all, there's a special "sealed" section in the back with spoiler info which you can open or not, depending on whether you're an adult (yes, I know you grownups out there play this game!) or a 6 year-old who needs help through the Tin Tower.All in all this guide is well worth the money, and if you've got more than one kid playing these games, I'd advise you to get two, to spare yourselves the fighting over it. Don't hesitate, buy it!

I like that it came to me a LOT quicker than the site said it would.It was nice and complete with very little wear to it.I'm only disappointed with the publisher, prima, for not putting in a listing of ALL of the pokémon with level growth and what TMs and HMs that they could use. Of course, this part has nothing to do with the seller.

Was a bit let down that it didn't have the maps and index like Pokemon blue and red had. It's a good guide if you want to know the basics like what Pokemon the gym leaders use.

The book was a little raggedy from being old but the secrets were still sealed and nothing ripped so it was a great deal instead of having some terribly torn hand-me-down.

This guide is great. This guide will help you when you are stuck. It is nicely made and should help any one out

The price was right for the condition of book. Description was very accurate. I purchased the mate to this book a couple weeks later and the condition was not near as good.

I have mixed feelings about this Strategy Guide, which I bought as a companion book to Pokemon Gold on the Game Boy. Generally, I think it`s well written and easy to understand, with superb maps which clearly tell you where items are and how to get around in the different cities (which I found really useful, as I`m not very good at navigation in RPGs). It also tells you about the different Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, and what the best Pokemon to use against them are. There is a section on how to breed Pokemon too, plus charts telling you what Pokemon are found in certain areas during the morning, daytime and nighttime and the stages of evolution for a few new Pokemon.Unfortunately, this book doesn`t really go into detail about where different Pokemon can be found and how to complete your Pokedex. It seems this book was intended just as a walkthrough to help you complete the game quickly, which kind of spoils your fun. If you want help with filling up your Pokedex properly, you have to buy another Prima book, which is advertised in the back.Overall I`d recommend this book if you`re a novice at the Pokemon games, because the maps and walkthroughs are very good. But sadly, the lack of a proper Pokedex stops the book from being excellent.

Great trip suggestions and tips. Used this to plan a 3 day trip to Downeast Maine. Departed from Jonesport to see some of the islands and camp out. It steered me away from some potentially dangerous itineraries and gave great advice for the area. Highly recommend!

We just returned from a trip to Maine - we used the book to plan our excursions - It still required usage of an atlas and GPS for some areas but it is a useful book - We plan to use it again and will update!

I took this on as a guide for which trips we were going to take and it was good the gauges are pretty accurate, we are moderate skill levels and all the trips recommended that were not ridiculously difficult were nice...no serious issues.
