Has a lot of good background, but if you are looking for in-depth information about the Pentium family, you should likely skip this book. The "Pentium and Pentium Pro" chapter starts page 753, "Pentium II, III and 4" starts page 783, and "Appendixes" star page 802, meaning 30 pages and 19 pages respectively on the last two Intel processor families.Several references in the book state things like "just introduced" or "this year", but were obviously from early editions.I recognize how hard it is to keep up to date - The current (as of this writing) architecture documents from Intel on IA-32e and AMD for AMD64 are several thousands of pages and free for download. Of course, I never expected 64 bit architecture discussion in this book, but but I was looking for a narrative that would set the base and context of modern 32 bit implementations.

i love it. it has so much info in it. clears up alot of things. shows basic interfacing on modern computers. i borrowed this before at my uni library and decided i am going to buy one.it got some recent stuff in it too.i own many of the 8086 books in my own lib and this is one of them i like that much

This book is nothing for beginners - or a hard piece to digest. It is very detail oriented and a very good compendium to get to know the x86 architecture from the roots. Not very cheap and lots of pages to read, you do get an in depth knowledge on the x86 architecture, the processors and insight into the instruction set.

I have read the first 140 pages of this book, and I really like it. So far, I have the following comments.Good points:1.) It covers both real and protected mode from the start. Other books wait until the middle of the books before they cover protected mode.2.) Assembly language command mechanism are explained in great detail. The author explain exactly what's going on. How the data moved from memory to register, register to register, how the memory in a computer is organized, how exactly PUSH and POP command works etc. There are lots of diagram that illustrate his explanations.3.) It covers from 8086 to Pentium II hardware architecture. Many books are strictly limited to outdated 8086 and 8088 processors.4.) The exercises at the end of each chapter increases my understanding of the subject and answers to even numbered problems are available at the end of the book.Bad Points:1.)Assembly language and processor architecture are hard subjects. You have to read each chapter several times before you can get a good grasp of the topic.2.)Some of the topic presented by the authors can not be easily understood until you read the subsequent chapters.One suggestion for people who read the book: Make sure you know how to convert binary, hexadecimal and decimal number. You have to know these otherwise you can get lost. Some basic understanding of logic gates is also helpfull!

My teacher used this book in our Electronics Engineering course few year back, it was some old edition. Since then I wanted to buy this book, but I couldn't find it in decent price. Few days back I bought it for US ... (lucky me). This book is really great for Assembly Programmers, Hardware Interfacing (with PCI, Local bus, AGP, LPT and USB), etc. It is also great for leaning Interfacing with other devices too, since it clearly describes some interfacing ICs. It is not suited for beginners.

It's a really Good Book, very thorough. But it lacks editing for the new revisions. There are quite a few chapters that concerns DOS only, and these days it would be hard to find a person that finds this interesting.Those chapters could very well be exchanged for information on XP, Win 2003 or even Linux. And now I mentioned Linux: this OS is completely ignored in the text. When the author lists the 32 bit operating systems, he event counts Win95 and Win98, but excludes Linux and Unix!?So: A very nice read that could have been better.

Good read. Easy to follow strategy. So simple but it works. You will do much better over the long if you limit you choices to new 52 week highs in stocks that have been trending up. Avoid the losing strategies of bottom picking and averaging down on underperfomers and you will find yourself in the win column more often. Good luck to all.

The strategy described here is not new. But it is nice to have all pulled together in a short descriptive list. I was able to recreate the strategy for an easy scan in TC2000 and start using it to see what stocks qualify presently. I was also able to see these conditions met in the past history of a stock on a chart and see how the stock behaved subsequently.I recommend this book and suggest you experiment with the strategy and do some paper trading to gain experience in managing the trade - which is always more important than the entry.

A person who regards accumulation of enormous wealth as a desirable objective and who spends his or her time not as an investor but as a consultant surely thinks that he or she can make more wealth as a consultant than as an investor.And what's offered here is just a booklet written as bait to get you to purchase still more consultation from these people who themselves cannot get rich by investing.

I like how simple the strategy is; and I like how counter intuitive it is to buy stocks making the new highs on higher relative volume. I belong to a number of trader chat rooms, and something I often hear from the gurus are "wait for a pullback before entry." That makes sense to not chase; but there are also many times that the price rockets higher, leaving us behind. I like the rationale behind picking stocks making new highs because there are no 'Bagholders' and the sky is the limit, when there is not clear price resistance looming overhead.

I'm 85, retired and have been trading stocks for more than 40 years but I'm always open to learning new tricks. Matthew Kratter's "Rocket Stocks" book had me panting with eagerness as I flipped through the pages. Haven't tried his clear, specific steps yet, but I know some of them work, as I've learned them on my own over the years. But I can't wait to try his overall strategy. This one Kindle edition has inspired me enough that I'm going to send for others of his. Thanks, Michael.

Concise and well written. This book has some very good ideas for those who want to find those stocks that make big moves in short time spans. Personally, I have been studying these types of stocks for the last few years, and the ideas put forth in this book pretty much confirm what I have found, plus a few additional insights. For less than the price of a cheeseburger, you can't go wrong. Highly recommend.

This book is a well written concise momentum strategy with specific rules and recommended optional conditions to increase the probability of a successful trade. Exit options are offered for both short term and longer term trades. The author is available for questions by e-mail. I have been using the darvas method for buying stocks making all time highs. This book has made it much easier and I am very thankful for how low the price was to purchase the kindle one.I have re read this many times and have been using this book to keep me on the rules.The 50/200 day moving average i have never considered as a way to decide on buying or selling a stock.If there were a higher rating than 5 stars i would give it.This like the nicholas darvas book how he made 2million in the stock market just being a dancer everyone should have in there collection of great trading books.This is a 10 and hopefully will become a classic. I'LL BE THERE is a wonderful book. I've hesitated to write a review because I'm not sure I'll be able to really pin down its excellence, explain why it was so satisfying. A lot of things I guess. The writing is beautiful and spare, balanced. Sloan communicates intense emotion, scenes both troubling and lovely, in a balanced way that sinks right down to the nerve but never gives you whiplash. The setting is contemporary, everyday, but there's a whiff of fairy tale about the whole book in the most marvelous way. The three young heroes, Emily, Sam, and Riddle, leap right off the page. I loved all three of them.It does everything just right. The bond between Sam and Riddle. Sam's wariness, Emily's determination, the advance and retreat of their relationship. The menace of Sam and Riddle's father, who's completely unhinged. And I'LL BE THERE has one of the most satisfying endings of any book I've read in a while. No spoilers - just that in a book that's so excellent on every page, throwing out all the stops and bringing it to such a perfect conclusion is a marvel.Highly recommended. Wonderful, wonderful book.

I'LL BE THERE is a beautifully-written, haunting debut by Holly Goldberg Sloan. It tells the story of two brothers, Sam and his younger brother Riddle, raised in a harrowing and sheltered home. Sam is at the age where he wants to join the outside world. This comes in the form of Emily, a girl who he sees at church one day. Their fierce love for each other is what this book is centered around. It's a gorgeous story of family loyalty, young love. It has lots of laughs, a climactic adventure scene, and wonderful characters you won't soon forget.

Although I've read thousands of books, and I've enjoyed a number of them, this is my first review. I actually felt compelled to write it. I began and finished the book today and even when I put it down, it stayed with me. Only the best books do that. What made it so gripping was the emotion it evoked. I felt each of the characters and their singular personalities and emotions. What a tremendous job Ms. Sloan did in creating different voices for each and making them so distinct and meaningful to the story.This book defies any attempt to label it. Wrenching and difficult themes of abuse were skillfully interwoven with more joyful themes of sibling love and young romance. I especially enjoyed the relationship that developed between Riddle and Emily's mother Debbie, and some of the scenes between the two and his memory of them were simply beautiful to read.I'll Be There was a emotional and joyous journey from beginning to end. I know it will stick with me for a long time to come. Thank you, Ms. Sloan.

Literally one of the best books I've ever read! As a seventh-grade Humanities teacher and reader of young adult literature, I highly recommend this author and all her books to readers of all ages!

Bill Eppridge was one of the most accomplished photojournalists of the twentieth century. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including National Geographic, Life, and Sports Illustrated. Eppridge received some of the highest honors his profession bestows: the NPPA Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award (1996), The Missouri School of Journalism Honor Medal (2009), and the Lucie Award for Achievement in Photojournalism (2011). His photographs have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington, D.C.; the High Museum of Art, Atlanta; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and in other museums around the world. British fashion photographer, publisher, and filmmaker Rankin attained success after co-founding style bible Dazed & Confused—and subsequently fashion titles AnOther and AnOther Man. After developing a taste for film direction, he established Rankin Film Productions. More recently, he returned to magazine publishing with a fresh biannual glossy The Hunger.

The recent 50th anniversary of The Beatles' first trip to the US has allowed fans to revel in those early Beatlemania images we have loved to go through again and again. But unquestionably the biggest treat has been the revelation of the rediscovery of about 3,000 insider professional photographs that have never before been seen by the public. They were shot by renowned photojournalist Bill Eppridge on assignment for Life Magazine. From their February 7th landing at JFK through the next five days at the shrieking fan surrounded Plaza Hotel, Ed Sullivan New York rehearsals, train trip to snowy DC and first live US concert there and back to New York for the Carnegie Hall concert. He shot 90 rolls of film, from which Life published just 4 images, leaving the rest unseen. Until now, with 146 of the best just published in the book "The Beatles: Six Days that Changed the World - February 1964"In today's e-world it may be hard for some to appreciate just how much impact and power the huge printed photos on the weekly cover and glossy paper pages of Life magazine had on the American public in those days. It was those credentials and influence that first got Bill Eppridge unequalled private access to the Beatles over those six hectic days. As the book explains, it was Eppridge's trademark style of not asking celebrities to mug and pose for the cameras that differentiated him from the rest of the mob of photographers shouting for The Beatles attention. And that disappearing into the woodwork to let them be themselves while he quietly shot seems to be what kept him part of the inner circle that whole momentous week.Sadly, Eppridge passed away just before the book was released, though he had worked extensively on it with his wife Adrienne Aurichio, herself a noted professional photo editor for major publications. In the Acknowledgments section at the back of the book, Eppridge praises her editing of the photos as well as the extensive research she undertook to accurately portray the sequence and context of the photos. This book is a truly professional piece of historic photojournalism from start to finish. No Beatles fan should be without it.

This book is a very interesting pictorial of the first 6 days of the Beatles visit to America. There are a lot of great photos and many that I had never seen before. Everything is captioned well to explain where the pictures were taken and some interesting stories to go along with them. It is a really neat accompaniment to the DVD The Beatles First U.S. Visit and you can see the movie makers in the pictures of this book and vice versa. It is a very good book and worth the money.

I just love the Beatles and everything about them! They were such a great group and I have many Beatles books, This one is among my favorites! Took me back to when I saw them perform.

Having used both Gelatt's and Ketring/Glaze's atlases, I feel that Esson's Clinical Atlas of Canine and Feline Ophthalmic Disease is the best ophthalmology resource for anyone working in the veterinary field. It is comprehensive, offering multiple photos of over 140 common eye problems that a veterinary worker may encounter. The page layout is incredibly user friendly providing comprehensive disease information in a way that does not overwhelm the reader. The information is also presented with a busy practice in mind! Each disease is introduced in a concise, yet thorough manner. There are a number of high quality photos (approximately four per disease) detailing each condition which I feel allows for a more likely comparison to what a practitioner may see when their patient presents for an evaluation. The number and quality of photos also makes it a useful reference tool for client education because of its user friendly layout. I feel Esson's atlas is a necessity for every veterinary library because it provides information to help identify disease processes, explains potential treatment options, possible treatment/drug side effects, as well as when drugs are contraindicated. It is remarkably innovative and has become an invaluable resource to my workplace.

This book is great for the busy practitioner who wants concise, accurate and up-to-date information on ophthalmic cases. Multiple pictures of each condition are very helpful in diagnosing conditions which may present differently in different patients. The description of each disease's presentation, diagnosis and treatment is clear and clinically useful (unlike some of the other veterinary opthalmic texts available.) This book is extremely organized and helpful for the general practitioner. It is a comprehensive review of the ophthalmic diseases you may encounter in practice. The pictures are very high quality and show the different variations in clinical presentation. I prefer this book to other clinical atlases in that it explains the disease process and treatment recommendations rather than just displaying pictures alone. Great addition to your clinical library!

This clinical atlas is exactly the type of reference for a general practioner of veterinary medicine like myself. This book is meticulously laid out and user friendly. The photos are high quality and the accomodating information of disease process are unlike any clinical atlas for ophthalmology. This is must have for any clinic. This has become a daily resource for myself and technicians alike. Well done.
